----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bright died October 15, 2002, of kidney failure. She was a wonderful, cute, loving, healthy kitty up until the end. We miss her very much.

Bright is a small looking, bi-color (mostly black, some white), short-haired cat. Her tail is broken in two places, and has been since before we adopted her. She's extremely scrappy and holds her own even though she's the youngest of four cats. She actually weighs as much as the other cats, but looks much smaller due to her delicate face and small paws.

Bright was adopted in order to alleviate some of the pressure on Chloe by giving Flame someone to play with instead of attacking Chloe. We went to the SPCA and looked at all the cats and kittens. Finally, in one cage way down at the bottom, we saw this tiny little black and white kitten. Dan pointed at her and said "how about that one?" She rushed over and looked at us, and was quite forward and enthusiastic, so we knew she'd be okay with the other kitties. It worked perfectly; she and Flame loved each other and Chloe was much happier.

Bright is the most playful and easygoing of all of our cats; she even throws her own toy mice and other cat toys for herself by hooking her claw into them and hurling them, often several feet away. Nothing is safe from her - one time she threw a piece of broccoli at us from off a plate on the floor! She adores playing fetch with her wool or velvety mice (or Dan's hair ties), and will chase them down if you throw them down the hall, proudly bringing them back for another toss.

Bright was adopted the day before the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade in 1993, so we wanted to name her something relevant. Many names were suggested, including that of Susie Bright, and when we saw her, Bright seemed like the best name for her.
