"The extreme form of power is all against one
the extreme form of violence is one against all"
-- Consolidated, "Woman Shoots John"
It's a complex subject, covering topics from domestic violence to violence in the media to violent street crime to conventional warfare to nuclear warfare, and I honestly don't know what to think about it all now. I believe that non-consentual violence is wrong (seemingly violent actions between consenting adults are a different matter...*grin*), but there may be times when it's necessary to prevent a greater wrong. I don't have any answers, but here are a few links on the subject (after all, this is the web). I don't necessarily agree with what they have to say, but they've provided me with food for thought.High Energy Weapons Archive
"God, damn the Hands of Glory
that hold the bloody firebrand high;
close the book and end the story
of how so many men have died.
let the world retain in memory
that mighty tongues tell mighty lies;
and if mankind must have an enemy
let it be his warlike pride,
let it be his warlike pride."
-- Bruce Cockburn, "It's Going Down Slow"
