Each of the respondents in the 1994 BOAP were asked to provide certain optional information about themselves. This included their age, sex, place of residence, years as an Al fan, and number of Al concerts attended.
Here's a summary of the results by category. Remember that not everyone responded to every question, and that this data covers voters only and not the ASML as a whole.

Pollster's notes: In 1964, the year Al "...came to London when (he) was 19 / With a corduroy jacket and a head full of dreams," his average fan was busy being toilet trained. This indicates to us that (a) Al's not getting any younger, and (b) he keeps picking up new enthusiasts every year. Three ASML'ers declined to give their age.

Pollster's notes: We were quite surprised by the male-to-female ratio among respondents. The overall ASML ratio doesn't seem to us to be nearly as skewed as 4.5::1. About two to one is more like it.

Pollster's notes: To no one's surprise, the state containing more Al fans than any other is California. Eleven ASML'ers hang their hats there, not to mention Al, Peter and the crew. Only two panelists hail from the South, and none from Canada! That's odd as there are quite a few regular posters on the ASML from the Great White North. Pollster's notes: Most of the panel became Al fans during the Essential years, probably around YEAR OF THE CAT. We suspect that this category is not representative of the ASML as a whole. We got the impression that the longer a person has been an Al fan, the more likely he or she was to respond to the poll. Unless they live in Canada. [:-)

Pollster's notes: Diane Fisli, Peter White's photographer and official fanzine publisher, royally wrecked the curve in this category. :-) If you deduct her 25 Al concerts, the range is zero to nine with a median of three. Most of the folks who haven't seen Al reside Down Under, where he's never appeared.
